Current Music: Karma - Alicia Keys
So its New Years Eve and I said I'd do my traditional 'thank yous' for the year because hey, its not every day that its the last day of the year. Its my seventeenth year in this world, and a lot has changed for me since I was born. Oh well, yeah sure, I've grown up, I've done lots of things, some old, some new, some stupid. But yeah, I don't know, there are things about Year 12, about this year, that I've hated. Its been terribly emotional, from Speech Night, to the end of a lot of TV shows that I've loved (Satc, Friends, Buffy, Dawsons's Creek etc) but the start of good new ones (O.C., Lost).
I've had to deal with Year 12. That's sucked and sometimes, I realise how much pain and how much effort I put into it to feel so fricking disappointed at the end. But no yeah, there have been good times. Times with either friends, times online, complaining while I should have been studying. With the exception of History, I actually liked most of my classes. It did get a bit scandalous, us against Mr. M who I actually ran into after exams which was really scary but funny, but hey, its something to tell my grandchildren. Their grandmummy was really nasty in her last year. Oh yeah...
I think, though, despite the year of hard work, I've enjoyed Year 12. I mean, I've regretted doing history, and I wish I had decided to do art instead. I think, it would have been much better for me, less exams, less stress, less hating. I've kept my temper I think, I mean I have bitchy at times, but mostly really kept the temper tantrums down. It also hasn't been the best year at home, with the robbing and the fights and the screaming, but sometimes its been really good and I've enjoyed being at home. Sydney was a trial, getting everything ready, making sure my parents didn't freak but it was all worth it, going, having fun away from my parents, but yeah, we were still responsible adults, which kinda bothered me a little, because I wanted Sydney to be completely wild. I mean, I get enough responsibility at home, I really just wanted to fly. A'mes is always telling me off for being too damn restrictiony but that's not all my fault. Meh, university should be better. Lots of more fly-away friends, then I guess. I mean, if in a few years, I've going to be all adult and stuff, I'd really rather let go now and screw up when I'm at university rather than now.
Anyway, I digress. This year, has had its torments and trials like the other years, but its been very much different. All these goodbyes and thank yous to everyone seem so much more final becaues next year, things are going to change, friendships are going to fail and I'm never going to be able to reconnect or share those things again. Then again, your 'real life' begins at university I think, and you begin to see what kind of person you really are, because now you're not in the bubble of private school, you're actually out there, by yourself, fending for yourself and this time, its just you and them. No parents. No help. Wow, that sounds really depressing, but I think its what I need. Very much.
Saying that and all, goodbye childhood. Goodbye school. Goodbye 2004. These past 17 have been good, and no matter what happens on the 4th of Jan, I just hope I can maintain a positive outlook and have a better future than what I hope.

Top 10 Movies of 2004
1. Garden State

These aren't in any order, although Garden State was one thing I was hyped up for. And enjoyed immensly. It took a few days to sit with me, but I realised how beautiful, how well produced, directed, and written it was, and how well it spoke to someone like me. Although it was for an audience who had experienced their twenties and found themselves kinda lost, it still spoke to me deeply. Hands down for best soundtrack though, I hope Sue brings it today. I really, really, really, really want it.
Quote:
Andrew Largeman: You know that point in your life when you realize that the house that you grew up in isn't really your home anymore? All of the sudden even though you have some place where you can put your stuff that idea of home is gone.
Sam: I still feel at home in my house.
Andrew Largeman: You'll see when you move out it just sort of happens one day one day and it's just gone. And you can never get it back. It's like you get homesick for a place that doesn't exist. I mean it's like this right of passage, you know. You won't have this feeling again until you create a new idea of home for yourself, you know, for you kids, for the family you start, it's like a cycle or something. I miss the idea of it. Maybe that's all family really is. A group of people who miss the same imaginary place.
2. The Phantom of the Opera

God, I loved this movie. Came second after GardenState for soundtrack. Was listening to Michael Crawford be all phantomish and laughed my ass off, he's so over the top, dramatic, I couldn't stop laughing. As for this Schumacher's version, I readily enjoyed it. My favourite party being when the chandelier is 'illuminated' and the whole place turns back to its original state. Awesome intro, especially with the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack banging away on the organ. Woah. It was spectacular from the songs, to the sets, to the very hot Phantom. Wow, I really, really liked it. Am still thinking and humming to it. Forgive me. [Curse Raoouuul! That 'fatuous twerp', thank you Roger Ebert!]
Quote:
Actioneer: Lot 666, then: a chandelier in pieces. Some of you may recall the strange affair of the Phantom of the Opera: a mystery never fully explained. We are told, ladies and gentlemen, that this is the very chandelier which figures in the famous disaster. Our workshops have restored it and fitted up parts of it with wiring for the new electric light, so that we may get a hint of what it looked like when reassembled. Perhaps we may frighten away the ghost of so many years ago with a little illumination, gentlemen?
3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I didn't know this was a 2004 movie? Wah? Anyway, this better be nominated next year. Why? Because of the two amazing performances from Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey. Because of the mind-fuck, provocoative screenplay via the mind of crazy Andy Kauffman, that brilliant man. Brilliant. I love his work. NOt only that, it is possibly the best and most intuitive romance movie I have ever seen, venturing into the good and bad of any relationship. It was awesome, bar Wood's performance. Great. And I could watch it many, many a time.
Quote:
Clementine: This is it, Joel. It's going to be gone soon.
Joel: I know.
Clementine: What do we do?
Joel: Enjoy it.
4. Shrek 2

Uh huh. This was cool. From its pop culture references to the reintroduction of old characters and new characters, aww...Puss in Boots. I really liked it just as I had liked the first one. Actually I think I like the second one better now, probably because it had much more fun with less regard for the plot. I like movies like that, where they're aware that the plot really doesn't matter, its more the fun situations and quotes that come along, very much the reason why I like Shanghai Knights more than I like Shanghai Noon. Btw, that is a very awesome movie. So go see Shrek 2, totally fantastic.
Quote:
Shrek: Quick tell a lie!
Pinocchio: What should I say?
Donkey: Say something crazy... like you're wearing ladies underwear.
Pinocchio: Um, ok. I'm wearing ladies underwear.
Pinocchio: [silence]
Shrek: Are you?
Pinocchio: I most certainly am not.
Pinocchio: [nose extends] .
Donkey: It looks like you most certainly am are.
Pinocchio: I am not.
Pinocchio: [nose extends]
Puss-in-Boots: What Kind?
Gingerbread Man: IT'S A THONG!
5. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Never thought one of the Harry Potter movies would be on my fave movies list but hey, here it is. The best and my favourite book. It was just soo good, from the direction to the actual acting involved. While I enjoyed the action and the storyline, to the quirky teachers, to even David Thewlis, who I never thought I'd like after DragonHeart, my favourite parts were small and pretty unimportant. Like, the cosy, heart-warming scene of the boys just having fun as boys do, eating lollies and making sounds via the magic. I think it was just nice to see Harry actually having some normal boy fun once in a while, a beautiful sight nonetheless. Also, moments when Cuaron would show continuity of the season and the passing of time and the year, using the whomping willow. I especially loved it when the Whomping Willow shakes snow off its branches and some land on the camera lens. So absolutely funny and beautiful at the same time. Loved it. Great movie.
Quote:
Fat Lady in Painting: [sings while holding a glass] Ah ah ah AH!
Harry: Fortuna Major.
Fat Lady in Painting: No, wait, wait!
[sings again, higher]
Fat Lady in Painting: Ah ah ah AH!
Harry: Fortuna Major.
Fat Lady in Painting: Wait!
[sings again, highest]
Fat Lady in Painting: Ah ah ah AAAAAAAAAAAH!
[holds the note, looks around to make sure nobody's watching, then smashes the glass on the edge of the painting]
Fat Lady in Painting: Oh, amazing! And just with my voice!
Harry: Fortuna Major.
Fat Lady in Painting: Yes, all right, all right, you can go in.
Harry: Thank you!
6. Team America: World Police

Whatever Anna says, I thought this was one of the most awesome, crudest, funniest films of the year. From Matt Damon's 'Matt Damon' to the 'suck my c***" to the 'asshole, pussies, dick' analogy, it was all so funny and violent. I know my friends didn't agree, but I loved it and so did A'mes, which was all I really needed to classify this as an great movie. I think it had perfect timing too and behind all the hilariousness and crudness, Matt Stone and Trey Parker shows us they are really intelligent, intuitive human beings who see, if not rudely, to the heart of the matter. There are black and white, good and bad guys. Both sides have reasons, both sides cannot see, neither can be said to be good or bad really. And Team America shows us both, pointing to the real conflict with America, as it is doing at the moment in a less over the top way is 'policing' the world for its own benefit. I'm not really making an opinion, seeing as there really is no point but hey, I liked the fact that these two film makers could see this whereas Presidents and world leaders cannot and will not. Its terribly funny but terribly serious at the moment and I appreciate that someone out there, has the guts to lampoon it instead of being all righteousy, aka a certain Mr Moore. Heheh...
Quote:
Gary Johnston: A flying limo? Now I've seen everything.
Spottswoode: Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
Gary Johnston: What? No!
Spottswoode: So you *haven't* seen everything
7. Hero

I think was raving about this for half a year. Partly negative because I hated the fact that it was being promoted as a 'Quentin Tarantino film' but positively, because it looked epicly awesome. From the pictures to the storyline, I really, really liked it. The action scenes are really cool, from the different colours, to the new, cool direction, not that I cared it looked a little like the Matrix but it reminded me of all those cool, old Chinese movies with the slicing of the arms and hands the the visible wires lifting them up. And I really liked this one, because, yes, it was a tragedy, but at least I got to enjoy lots of cool action scenes along the way. And yeah, I didn't see the end coming. So yeah, put this one up with House of Flying Daggers. We need more movies like this. Bring real Chinese action to Hollywood along with Bollywood. Dancing and martial arts, woo hoo!
Quote:
King of Qin: It just dawned on me! This scroll of Broken Sword's isn't about sword technique but about swordsmanship's ultimate ideal. Swordsmanship's first achievement is the unity of man and sword. Once this unity is attained, even a blade of grass can be a weapon. The second achievement is when the sword exists in one's heart when absent from one's hand. One can strike an enemy at 100 paces, even with bare hands. Swordsmanship's ultimate achievement is the absence of the sword in both hand and heart. The swordsman is at peace with the rest of the world. He vows not to kill and to bring peace to mankind.
8. Vanity Fair
Oi! Yeah, I know. This year has been quite romancy for me. I didn't quite realise until now. And most of them tragedies, in one way or another. Vanity Fair, I just loved, I don't really know or am really sure. Maybe it was just the sets, the dresses, the boys and the girls. But yeah, I liked it a great deal more than the BBC series, possibly because it was shorter and more centralised its main characters. Than again, it missed its main point, the point was to compare Becky's rise with Amelia's fall. Very Anna Karenin - very much like how Jacqueline Bisset's version totally missed the parallel story with whatshisname. Anyway, I just liked Reese in this. She gave Becky a flair and an innocence at the same time. Nice to see Miss Witherspoon stretching her wings.
Quote:
Becky Sharp: Revenge may be wicked, but it's perfectly natural.
9. Kill Bill 2

Who can deny it? After I secretly downloaded the first one, I fell in love with it. Like, I was gonna waste waiting two years for the first one to come out, so I could see it legally. Like hell. Anyway, it rocked, as it always does. And now I own it on DVD and am yet to watch it, but it is sooo cool. Uma Thurman is perfect in the role, steaming revenge as she marches determinedly through the dead bodies, sword always at her side, ready to kick Bill ass. And she does, eventually. Although it only lasts a minute, the minute is worth every bit she has gone through. And its a lot, believe me, a lot.
Quote:
Bill: [about B.B.'s pet fish] She told me later, that the second she lifted up her foot and saw him not flapping, she knew he was dead. Is that not the perfect visual image of life and death? A fish flapping on the carpet, and a fish not flapping on the carpet. So powerful even a five-year old child with no concept of life and death knew what it meant. Not only did she know Emilio was dead, she knew she had killed him. So she comes running into my room, holding Emilio in both of her little hands - it was so cute - and she wanted me to make Emilio better. And I asked her, why did she step on Emilio? And she said, she didn't know. But I knew why. You didn't mean to hurt Emilio, you just wanted to see what would happen if you stepped on him, right?
B.B.: Uh-huh.
Bill: And what happens when you stomp on Emilio, is you kill him. And you discovered that, didn't you?
B.B.: Uh-huh.
Bill: So we drove down to the beach, had a little funeral, and gave Emilio a burial at sea. And right now I'm sure he's happy as can be, swimmin around in fish heaven. But the point being, our child learned two very important lessons. One, about life and death. The other, some things, once you do, they can't be undone. I knew just how she felt.
10.
You know the funny thing is, this year, even with its multitude of movies, I don't think there is another movie that is worth of my list, something that I feel can stand here among the rest of these giants. So, this year, I'm not going to have a no. 10. Instead I'll just have my top nine and leave it at that.
~
Thank you's come next post. I just realised how long this actually is. That and resolutions.
Toodles,

Ames: Well...actually...
Me: AGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Current Music: Angel of Music - Phantom of the Opera (Oh shut up, Em! I did download the whole soundtrack!)
Went out today and saw the 'Phantom of the Opera'. Well, I'm kinda obsessed now. Isn't that sad?
~
In sleep he sang to me,in dreams he came....
that voice which calls to me and speaks my name...
And do I dream again? For now I find
the Phantom of the Opera is there - inside my mind...
A while back I wrote a post on the Phantom of the Opera trailer and what I expected. Well...looking back on it, I wrote that back in June 30, 2004. Seven months later, I'm not in the least bit disappointed.
Its an awesome film. From the moments the theme pound the old stage, reknewing it to its gold and glitter fame. Though during its awesome length there were faint reminders of Moulin Rouge, I enjoyed it. I hated Christine and Raoul, Raoul more, him being a sissy red head and of course, fell in love with Erik aka. The Phantom played by Gerad Butler whom I'd only seen two nights earlier, unmasked but fanged up as Dracula in Wes Craven's Dracula 2000, not the most frighteningly or best Dracula film, nonetheless, this guy's got presence. He's not too bad looking either.
The songs. Ah. The Songs. I remember the theme well, I rememeber sitting in the concert hall in New York City, it was really cold and snowing outside, but I was completely absorbed in this love triangle. I can't remember if I saw it played by Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford, the two original players, although it would have been likely, given I saw it in New York City. The songs, I cannot remember as well, but the music and the score sent tingles of childhood up my spine.
Along with art, musicals have been one thing I have loved since I was child. Since I was reared up on sixties music (Gold FM style) and TNT movie MGM musicals, I have always adored stage operas. From Beauty and the Beast, which I saw three times, Phantom of the Opera to Ben Elton's latest, We Will Rock You, musicals have and will always be a part of me that I remember and cherish. I have this soft spot for them,. and among those soft spots is Phantom of the Opera. It was my first introduction to a love and tragedy (bar Shakespeare) that really shook me and made me feel that 'grown up feeling'.
When I was watching it today, while sniggering with Anna at his cape whirls and shushing Cathy everytime she giggled when they started singing again, I couldn't help but re-feel that night again New York and then again Sydney and the feeligs for each of them. I know, its only a movie, but there was something about the Phantom, his darkness that I adored and loved. He was perhaps one of the first of my book!loves, along with Mr Darcy. He touched me in a way I never felt, I always felt so sorry for him but I loved him at the same and damned Christine for being such a fool. Though, as Anna put it, 'she would have to live there (there, being his cavernous lair) for eternity', I don't know, it didn't seem too bad. There was just something about him, and certainly now, something different. THe Phantom I saw was much older in the musical but now in the movie, he's much younger with a sexier, charmier thang going on, that was pretty hot. Oh shut up, A'mes.
Ames: Omg. You're in love with the Elephant Man's brother.
Mel: Oh god.
Yeah, no, I'm not. But like I said, there something about him. And in a way, for that, I will always adore the Phantom of the Opera, from Gaston Leroux's morbid and dark prince who seems like out of Dante's Inferno, Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical which opened my eyes to tragic, musically inspiring love and finally Joel Schumacher's spine tingling and very hot Phantom (Oh, you just gotta see him in Don Juan! Hot! And I mean, literally, on stage. Fire. Flames. THey were in hell, hello!) which I adored. Ah, it has yet to fail me.
9/10 movie-wise. Schumacher is unpretentious. Like Finella said 'he makes mainstream movies and he knows its and he knows what it is and therefore makes Phantom great'.
Schumacher has made most of the Batman movies, so he knows a few little things about movies. He also made 'The Lost Boys' which I love, and is probably second to 'Interview With the Vampire', my favourite vampire movie. Queen of the Damned be damned!!!!! Btw, that reminds me, whatever happened to nipple-biting Stuart Townsend? For a second he's kissing Charlize and reminding me of Jude Law and then...poof...he coulda made a good second rate Johnny Depp, i.e. The League of Extraoridinary Gentlemen. Ahem.
And in this labyrinth,
where night is blind,
the Phantom of the Opera is there/here -
inside your/my mind...
~
Now back to obsessing over Phantom of the Opera music.
Dun, dun, dun, da, dun, dum, dummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

PS: [Edit] Just some excerpts from Roger Ebert's review. I like Roger Ebert, he's an awesome and very well known reviewer. If you get a thumbs-up from him and Roeper, that immediately goes on the poster.
About Raoul: The character of Raoul, Christine's nominal lover, has always been a fatuous twerp,
About the Phantom: In this version, any red-blooded woman would choose the Phantom over Raoul, even knowing what she knows now.
Muahaha...see??

Current Music: Jakatta feat. Seal - My Vision
Woah. Its been 8 days since my last post. I am bad, bad, widdle girl.
~
Well I really have no excuse. Its not like I've been doing anything really. The Coles people lucked out on me, which is pissing me off.
In other news (my fingers are freezing and I have to wake up at 9 tommorow!), Sue had the Christmas sleepover which was lots of fun. WE watched movies, searched for Alice's retainier thingie which ended up in the trash...the other trash bag, which I asked Sue about five billion times. There was the cockroach, the opening and forgetting of many presents, the photos which apparently I looked awesome in (*cough*yeahright*cough*) and the 'shut up i want to go to sleep' antics. And being me, I overslept and Sue had to poke me so she could take me home and back again, ahh the sleepover tail.

[Just a photo of us as our alter egos at Sue's partay. Hey! It ain't that embarassing!!! I'm the cool cleopatra looking one.]
Em: Omg! You so totally look awesome.
Me: *blushes* Thank yee.
Ames: You look like one of those crack whores.
Me: Wha...
Em: A'MES!
Ames: Joking.
Ames: What? Do you think I'd know enough crack whores to make a realistic and systematic comparison?
Me: Well...I never know about You, A'mes.
Ames: Oh shut up, crack!bitch.
So...according to Ames I look like a crack whore. Which makes me a tad worried.
I was going for goth.
~
I haven't really been busy. I did some x-mas shopping, oh not really, I just bought second hand books for mum since I'm money running low, especially since I went out to see GardenState (woo!) and Lemony Snicker (woo!), films I could have seen for free, but decided to be legit and good.
~
Garden State was cool. It was all the twenties angst which I loved. A nice simple, quirky tale in which I remembered the charmingness of Natalie Portman, reminiscent of her and Colin Frain, ah I love that guy (teh!evil!duke) in Where the Heart Is (NP: I shall name her Americus!). And Zach Braff. God, I just luff that guy. He rocks my totally nonexistent socks. So yeah, it made my day. And Ian Holm once again scared the living daylights out of me. Saw it with Cathy at Le Rivoli. Funny day it was, 36 degrees, mum almost keeping me home. Cathy kept me waiting twenty minutes in the boiling heat and when she came, the tram didn't move so Cathy and I attempted to dragoon ourselves fifteen hundered miles down Camberwell. Luck changed, when the tram actually stopped for us and let us on when it finally started working....after the movie, on the tram back up and met D-zero. Ahhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not the best meeting ever, considering I've met her before around here (video store with my sister...actually now come to think of it, she's the only school-friendish person to EVER see my sister. No one else ever has. Wow.)
Lemony Snicket like a day later. Met up with Ying and sis on the way to Camberwell. Found out we were ages early and just hung about, doing chores, waiting for Sarah to get dressed (she slept in and opened the door in a t-shirt and towel), walked to Rivoli, saw movie, spilled popcorn on Ying, laughed at how cute Sunny was and how pretty Emily Browning was, loved the sets. Left and went home. Totally cool movie, loved it. Except it was soooooooo a set up for the rest of them, and at times was sap!heavy. Was really late back (around seven-seven30) and mum was like 'omg' but I was like 'chill' and ate late dinner and went to bed. On the whole not bad.
~
This week. Well...Christmas on Saturday. Which was cool. Got lots of presents, DVDS - legit Kill Bills and LOTR EE and the rest of the BlackAdders, tops (one which said 'I love the O.C.') and other stuff, including a very, very, very expensive Perfume except it wasn't the one I really wanted, which is like 169 for a small bottle, Coco Chanel. Oh yum. She once said 'a woman without a perfume isn't worth knowing', which I don't ENTIRELY agree with, since no one woman can have a singular perfume unless they pay to have it made for them, or they spray themselves with different ones ...but hey, who would do that?
And yes, I still have the GardenState CD to expect from Sue, so yay. And of course, Cathy wants to immediately borrow it. Coz it has totally awesome music...did I mention that it has an O.C. song on it? Oooh... Have I also told you how much I love the O.C. compliations? Josh Schwartz is the next J.J. Abramah. I love him. Luff.
~
Spoke to my cousin two nights ago at three in the morning. Nice random discussion and stuff, on MSN of course. Ames kept doing her 'thang' during it and I ignored her completely until a little inebriated (i think...hmmm...) Em hopped on and declared herself queen of her ass. A'mes and I could do nothing but agree.
Bwahhahah...you better believe it happened, Emmy.
~
Going to see PHantom of Opera tommorow with Anna and Cathy and am writing Trivia Quiz too, for Anna's party. Hopefully we'll finish it this time. It won't take me too long. This is my last and final effort, ever, so yeah, if it don't go good, don't expect me to be too pleased. You know, if there is one thing that has always irritated me about my friends, its that all this extra effort I put in, the stories, the games, the extra effort that goes to make our parties more memorable, school and life a pleasant, fun, spontaneous memory in twenty-thirty years, goes completely wasted and unappreciated. I think, secretly, my friends hate and abhor what I do, or of course, get annoyed about it and talk behind my back about how annoying persistent I am about getting me to do things like 'Miss Kuttan's on my back again - god she's sooo annoying'. Example: Automographs.
I hate that. I just hate it. Well, this is my last go. And as for my stories, I'm writing for myself now...although I have been doing that for ages. I actually found this dream journal like two nights ago on my old back-up CD and there was this dream where I murdered all my friends with scalpels. Eew.
Ames: Uh...Mel...you don't dream about us like that, do you?
Me: No!!!!!!! Of course not.
Mary: Of course, she says that now...but what about later...
Me: What? Em, what on earth are you talking about?
Uhoh. Em's inebriated again. Got to go.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. And of course, I'll do my regular 'thank you' post New Years...uh oh, I'll have to do it thursday night, because I'll be at Anna's otherwise. Yay. I'm going out New Years...well kind of.
Luff A'mes, Mary, Em, Splincer, Poirot and 'blue boy'. Love you all.
~ M.M.W ~
PS: Oh, and Orlando I suppose. I wish I could just meet him once. Just once.
Monday, December 20
Realised how long and how much it will take to write up journal so will do in other time, rather than piece meal here. Anyway, here's my meme for 2004.
My 2004
1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
Survived something I thought I would not.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make any, except maybe just to get through Year 12. Yes. Successfully? I don't know. And as for making more, yes, I will.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes. My cousin's wife to my little nephew Kenshin.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
Malaysia.
6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
Energy and life. And perhaps a great score. *twists fingers*
7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Dec 2nd to Dec 9th. Sydney. Oh, and the last day of my exams, which I have forgotten but will remember forever.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting through Year 12 IB, thank you.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Knowing, deep deep down, that I'm going to fail. Certainly. And that I'm going to disappoint a lot of people.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Let's see. Cold, ulcers and I developed hayfever. Wooh.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I don't think it counts as 'bought' but I got out of paying almost $300 which is awesome.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Mine, pretty much. I've been relatively good this year. Ah, modest I am.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
The world's.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Music and Movies.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Garden State. Troy. Sydney.
16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
Livin' On A Prayer - Bon Jovi
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder?
Atm, happier. Because its not next year, because right now, I just had the best party I've ever had, recently got back from a vacation without my parents, and despite the looming score thing, my life doesn't seem too bad. And in a way, I can't wait for Uni.
ii. thinner or fatter?
Fatter. My parents keep reminding me. I don't seem to mind it too much.
iii. richer or poorer?
Poorer. Hence Sarah calling me a cheapo while we were shopping for Chrissie presents.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Stuff at School, Worked Harder.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Less Procastination and complaining.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With my friends, with my family. And woo, I got New Years Party to look forward to.
22. Did you fall in love in 2004?
Not really. I don't fall in love. I've learned my lesson.
23. How many one-night stands?
None. *sigh* Sydney was sooo disappointing on that account.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
O.C., Friends, SATC, The Simpsons, Black Adder.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Why, yes I do.

The O.C. compilations. Wooh!!!!!!
28. What did you want and get?

17, absolutely nothing.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Determination, will, ruthlessness and focus.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
Conservative, green, silver, white, sometimes black. Oh yes, uniform.
34. What kept you sane?
My dreams.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I don't know anymore. I figure it was Orlando Bloom, but that's the front I put up in front of my other friends. Maybe it was 'blue boy' after all.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Iraq. Needless violence. Oh and Howard election thingie.
37. Who did you miss?
My friends and the girl I knew so long ago, who was bright, bubbly, intelligent and had hope, I don't know her anymore. She died in me this year.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Didn't really meet anyone new this year. Unless you count my little newphew.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004:
- I can always get drunk with my friends cause they are soo responsible and will look after me.
- Apparently, I can stomach a lot of vodka.
- But not a lot of information.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
If you leave, I won't cry
I won't waste a single day
But if you leave, don't look back
I'll be running the other way
Seven years went under the bridge
Like time was standing still
Heaven knows what happens now
You've gotta say you will
For 'Blue Boy' who always visited me in my dreams.

Current Music: Just a Girl - No Doubt
So I said I'd do a round up of my holiday. Well here goes. [Note, I'll add more pictures later]
~
Day One: Thursday
Woke up at aproximately Six o'clock a.m. thanks to dearest mummy and my alarm clock which I nearly banged into once again. After a quick last minute pack and check ("Passport?" "Check!" "Money?" "Check" "Underwear?" "Mom!"), was lugged (and I mean lugged!) over to Carman's house for Sue's Dad's pick up. Was horribly tired, lugging 'gargantuan' suitcase on terrible wheels all the way down to Carman's house after Mum parked in side road. Said goodbye to Mummy and sat in Carman's house, watching her last minute pack too and listening to her moan about me being too early. On time, Sue's Dad came. But with no Sue. (Me: "Que?") He explained that he was driving us back to Sue's house, because Anna and Cathy had called earlier that morning to request that Sue's parents also pick them up. Carman and I feeling schmucky loaded our shit into his car, said goodbye to Carman's parental unit and dashed off to Sue's house in the hills. Once arriving, we sat around waiting for Le Fluff and Le Princess to arrive, looking over the yearbook and talking on Sue's mezannine and where her desk used to be. Carman requested an apple (Sue: "You guys want anything?" Carman: "Apple?" Me/Sue: "Laugh"). Finally, after going out to Sue's car to put her shoes into my ginormous suitcase and utilise its ginormousness, Anna and Cathy arrived. Not so bright and fresh, but at least there. So finally, after final hugs and kisses and embarassed flushes, and Anna's mum clutching onto Anna...we set off, Sue's parents being gracious greats and taking us all in their two cars.
In Sue's Dad's driven car, Sue, Carman and I went. In Sue's Mom's driven car, Anna and Cathy went. There were lots of "Hey! Let's beat them!" and Amazing Race race type stuff, plus me tapping loudly on the window to get their attention at a traffic stop. Sue and Carman settled back to read the Yearbook while I, all ready with a headache, lay back to take a snooze and relax before the big journey. Sue's Dad was a hoot when he made a joke about Anna's mum that he was confused when were dispersing into cars as there was suddenly 'six' of us he saw (Anna's mum looking like one of us). Was very funny. Even Sue laughed.
Finally got to airport and unloaded our gear. Me, taking up the end, glaring furiously at Anna with her one slim country road bag hung neligently over one shoulder. Glare. Glare. Glare. We got in. Sue's Dad and Mum went to park cars, while the rest of us kinda dispersed off to toilets (Cathy and Carman) and Me, off to the chemists, for some Travelax or whatever, to soothe my sicky stomach. I had to ask two people for the place, as like the Crown Cinemas, they are on the other fucking side of the complex. Argh. When I got back, we took photos (which I cam yet to process) and checked in our luggage, me glad to get rid of it although it was tagged 'heavy'. I almost laughed as everyone campily grinned when the attendant lady each called us by our names. Aww, how cute and innocent we are. Finally we flounced off to the gate. We sat together, mostly in silence, or reading our tickets and occasionally talking, but I think we were captured by the excitement of it all.
We finally had to go, and boarded the plane, waving Mr Zhang goodbye and taking our seats. I forget what they were, but they were close to the front. They were three, side by side, Anna, Cathy and Sue on one, and Carman and I on the other, a guy closest to the window. We spent most of the flight talking and gossiping, reading automographs, and me of course, asking rude, embarassing questions loudly, like "Do you shave or wax?". The plane flight was short, probably less than an hour, and Carman and I sniggered halfway through as the guy sitting on the far side, was reading a bright pink book on Paris Hilton and her exploits, which he was furiously trying to cover with his hands. Although I was kinda ticked off, as the flight attendent kept yelling at me to tuck my baggage under the seat and it was. It was, you bitch!!!
We landed, in a different state, in a different city. No parents. No rules. And no fricking curfews in sight. Although knowing us...
First off, we got our luggage.
Sunday, December 12
Your objective is simple: Soul Accumulation
Your motive is a little bit more complex: To show them all
Stage One:
To begin your plan, you must first Incapacitate a Wealthy Heiress. This will cause the world to sit up and take notice, stunned by your arrival. Who is this Really Bad Guy? Where did they come from? And why do they look so good as an Evil twin/Opposite?
Stage Two:
Next, you will Contaminate/poison the Moon (ooh, tides!). This will cause countless hordes of Computer Programmers to flock to you, begging to do your every bidding. Your name will become synonymous with Dear God No, as lesser men whisper your name in terror.
Stage Three:
Finally, you will Covertly Move your Horsemen of the Apocalypse, bringing about Pain, suffering, the usual. This will all be done from a Island of Mu, an excellent choice if we might say. These three deeds will herald the end, and the citizens of this planet will have no choice but to elect you their new god.
Trust us, it'll all come together in the end.
~ M.M.W ~
PS:
Em: OOoooh! What fun!
Me: *squees*
Friday, December 10
Ames: Soooo how was it?
Em: Yeah. Spill-e.
Mary: *nods*
All in good time, children. Once I got illustrations, then I'll tell all. Let's just say, much drunkage, meeting the famous and very late night and mornings. Ah, los hols.

Wednesday, December 1
Hey guys.
I'm going to Sydney. Like Tommorow. Like Tommorow Morning.
Like by afternoon, I'll be in a whole different state.
Weird, huh? I mean, who da thunk that I'd be so far away like tommorow? Its seems strange, kinda surreal, like its not really going to happen. But here it is, I've packed (in according to Sue, my ginormous suitcase), mum's making my last super, and Karen and I did 'the wax' last night. Ow. I've got red brusies everywhere. I'll look like lasagna by tommorow.
But hey, I'll be gone.
~
Yearbook...well...um...its...uh, okay, its done. But I've only got one copy and that's kinda shit. Coz my friends are expecting like a zillion copies tommorow and I only got one. Well that's because, I hated the first copy, so I'll see about doing it differently and getting it printed, without shelling about $104 dollars each copy.
Well, I was thinking you know, get it professionally printed, just the main photo bits, which comes to about $35 dollars. Plus binding at $6 a pieces. So yeah...hmmm...that's about 70 extra. Agh. Okay, not bad, all considering. But definitely over my budget. Oh yuck. I'll sort it out when I get back. But yeah, its done. Thank the lord.
~
Automographs...heheh, I'm going to play a prank tommorow and teach those complainers a lesson. Muahahaha. Hee.
~
Computer department sent us a letter ordering us to send us $200 and something dollaridoos for fixing my computer. My response?
Me: what the fuck?
Mum: MELISSSA! (like the god of hell or something)
Of course, being opposite me today, I rang up the department and began yelling at them. Actually mum not me. So 'Simon' called back later, while I was out, by myself, binding, and said 'Uh, no, that's okay, you don't have to pay it anyway, we'll forgo the charge' obviously wavering in front of mum's stormy voice. Well, I guess its okay to have an intimidating mum sometimes. I mean, I can't imagine Anna's mum rumbling on the phone to the CC department demanding her money back.
And just to top the day off, in its brilliancy, the Safeway Recruitment Office called back and said 'You have been successful in your group interview' *pumps air* and 'So we would like you to come down for your final interview'. I was dancing around, until she asked me to come around on the tenth and I'm like...
'Oooh, no, I can't. I'm actually away, I wrote it down on the form'
So, Phoebe, the nice woman she was, rang around the Balwyn manager, and asked him to change the time. And then she rang me back.
Phoebe: How's 11 am?
Me:: Uh, I can't. I get back at 2.
Of course, she rants at me that the manager's being kinda picky and that either its that time or no, until I set it straight the date.
Me: Do you mean the 9th or the 10th?
Phoebe: Oh, I meant the 10th.
I start dancing again. Yay!!!!!!! I won't have to do it the day I get back, and hopefully, hopefully I get this job. I really, really, really want it. Really. Even if the pay sucks, you know they go by your age? Meh, its experience.

Anyway, now its holiday time. I gotta clean up my room, vacume, do my hair, finish my automographs, finish Daniel Deronda, and just relax I guess. And finish my packing.
However, I am going to miss you guys dearly. I know I haven't been on a lot lately, because I've just been working full tilt and its kinda disgusting, trying to get a job, trying to finish the Yearbook, trying to organise get togethers etc and I'm actually quite tired. My eyes look it anyway, plus I have to wake up around six tommorow and get to Carman's at around 7, 7:15, hopefully, cause Sue's only getting there at 7:30. And then yeah, I'm off. I will miss you, all of you, especially as some of you are still at school, others still have years before them, and some *glares* are at Portsea, having the fun of their lives now. Well tommorow, is just another day. Except, for me, it will be different from all the rest.
Love you all and seee you soon, in another week, with a tan, perhaps skinnier and perhaps a little happier.
Love your,
~ M.M.W ~
